FERTILITY QUESTIONNAIRE Eliza's Story |
ELIZA'S STORY
A story like this is not uncommon. It could be your story.
Eliza was 34 when she contacted me. She and her partner John had been trying to conceive for 4 years without success. After three years of trying they had been referred to an Assisted Reproduction Clinic where they had been given three cycles IUI and two cycles of IVF.
Eliza became pregnant naturally, eight months after answering the questionnaire and receiving advice. This is quite a long time but Eliza and John had a large number of problems to resolve. I will speak of each of the couple's problems separately but both of course contributed to the whole.
Eliza: At the time of answering the questionnaire, Eliza was 34. She had a University education and an above average salary. She liked to look in style, was an appropriate weight for her height and she exercised for one to two hours per week.
Eliza found her work as a Psychologist extremely stressful. She described herself as extremely unhappy at work.
Eliza ate a low fat diet, drank 2 cups of coffee each day, one cup of herbal tea and 8 glasses of water. She also ate lollies every day, had cakes or biscuits three times each week and chocolate about 3 times a week. She drank one to two glasses of alcohol about twice a week and never drank too much.
Eliza suffered from Colitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Bloating, Dizziness and Fatigue. She also had genital warts and a back problem.
She described herself as being carefree when she was happy.
John: At the time of answering the questionnaire, John was 36. John spent long hours at work where he was exposed to heavy metals. He wore polyester underwear and usually sat with his knees together. John's diet was similar to Eliza's with a little less chocolate and a little more caffeine.
John was also suffering from severe stress and this led him to have problems of premature ejaculation. He had grown up with violent parents and had a conflict with Eliza about having children at this time.
John and Eliza had sex less than once a week. Eliza's cycles were 28 days on average. She had endometriosis, very painful periods and heavy bleeding. John's sperm was had normal numbers but were of poor quality.
The Solutions: There are a number of issues here relating to chemical toxicity (John), diet (Eliza and John), stress (Eliza and John) and the frequency of sex and sexual difficulties.
Both John and Eliza needed detoxification, a significant change in diet and means of resolving their stress. The sexual difficulties were resolved once the other stress issues were resolved. The reproductive problems were overcome by changes in diet and nutrient supplements.
All their problems were resolvable by changes in work and lifestyle but these changes could not occur overnight. I was pleased to hear of John and Eliza's success and congratulate them on having the commitment to overcome their problems.
