What caused my baby's problem? Will it happen again?
Many babies are born with some
type of problem. The heart or cardiovascular system is most often affected.
There are many different causes of problems but problems are either
inherited or they occur in an individual pregnancy because of conditions
occurring at the time of the pregnancy. Either type can recur of the cause
is not understood and where possible, corrected.
Whenever things go wrong and a baby is
born with imperfections, it is a tragedy for the couple and their family. At
some stage they will want to know what went wrong? Could it have been
avoided? Will it happen again?
If your Baby has abnormalities and dies
When babies die at birth or late in pregnancy, it is traumatic and can
haunt the couple for a very long time. It is important for your grief that you hold your
baby and later have a burial or special ceremony to celebrate your baby's life. Have the
hospital staff take photos so that you can always retain the memory of your child.
Ask the hospital to refer you to counselling services.
The wonder of the Human Form
Pause for a moment to think of the complexity of the human form. Think of the intricacy
and beauty of the eyes, the ears, the mouth and the hands and feet. Now consider that
beyond what we see is an extraordinarily complex design of cells and tissues. These
provide the inner structure and function. And this complex individual grows from a single
cell, the fertilised egg!
Tests and Autopsy
I suggest that you consent to any tests that are offered to you,
especially to an autopsy and chromosome analysis. The tests and autopsy will often disclose the cause of your
baby's problems. This will help you greatly when you decide to try to conceive again.
Time for Grief
Take time to grieve for the loss of this child before you attempt to
conceive again. This will help you both physically and emotionally.

Causes of
Problems
Abnormalities
are caused by one of the following:
Defective
Genes: Defective genes can
cause abnormalities in babies. There will often have been another occurrence of this
problem in the family. If there has been no previous problem in your family and you
are not closely related yet have
been told that you both carry an exceptionally rare gene, please
contact me for an alternative explanation. My Email
consultations are inexpensive and can save you pain and heart-ache.
Abnormalities
in the structure of Chromosomes:
Your baby's chromosomes were tested and found to be abnormal. Perhaps you were told there
was a translocation, deletion or ring chromosome. You will have had your own chromosomes
tested. If your chromosomes are normal, you might be told that you will have no future
problems. This advice is not always accurate and I urge you to contact me for an
EMAIL consultation
especially if either of you has been exposed to
toxic chemicals
or radiation,
social or medicinal drugs, or have a dietary deficiency.
Abnormalities
in the number of chromosomes:
Trisomy 13, trisomy 18, trisomy X and trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) are each due to the baby
having an extra chromosome. Monosomy X is due to the loss of a sex chromosome. Each of
these is caused by an error of cell division, usually in the division that produces the
unfertilised egg. Errors occur because of the physiological conditions in mother's body.
If they occur once they can occur again. It is important to rectify the unbalanced body
physiology. Purchase
IT TAKES TWO
(hard copy or e-book) or contact me for counselling to discover how to overcome future
problems.
Exposure
to Teratogens:
Most people will have heard of thalidomide, the drug that caused "amputation"
abnormalities in babies. Other drugs and chemical exposures can cause abnormalities in
babies. Be sure that neither you or your partner is exposed prior to or during conception.
Your partner can transfer chemicals to you in SEMEN.
IT TAKES TWO has information about
chemicals that can cause abnormalities.
Dietary
Deficiencies:
Dietary deficiencies can cause abnormal development. There is an awareness of the
importance of Folic Acid in pregnancy but this is only one of our many dietary needs.
Have your
diet and lifestyle evaluated on line to avoid possible problems. You
need to have a high quality diet not only to avoid problems but to give
your baby the best possible start in life. Your diet during your pregnancy
could influence the chances of your child developing heart disease,
diabetes or other illnesses later in his or her life!
